The latest challenge theme on Stampotique Designers Challenge blog is to use at least 3 layers and this gave me the opportunity to try out a technique I recently saw on Tim Holtz’s blog – using stencils with different mediums to build up layers. I started off by cutting a piece of watercolour paper to size and used texture paste through a stencil at the top right, and Picket Fence distress stain through a circles stencil on the bottom half of the card. After these were dry I added a layer of colour using Distress Stains: wild honey, picked raspberry and broken china, spritzing with water to allow the colours to mingle and blend. When the card was completely dry I added a third layer, using Distress Inks and two more stencils. For the stamping I have used Stampotique’s Arty and the flowers and words are from Paper Artsy’s JOFY collection (I have only just bought these so couldn’t resist using them!).
